You need to apply at least a nickel-size amount (roughly a teaspoon) of Mama Sol sunscreen daily to your face, ears, and neck. Do this 15 minutes before you head outside. Reapply sunscreen at least every two hours (we aim for every 80 minutes or so). It’s important to reapply more often right after swimming or sweating. Pro tip: Set a timer on your phone when you’re out and about, since it’s super-easy to forget to reapply sunscreen. It’s also super-easy to forget to refill parking meters…or is that just an LA thing? For adults, the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends at least 1 ounce to fully cover the body, which is enough to fill a shot glass. Keep in mind that someone who’s 6’4” is gonna need to apply more sunscreen than someone who’s 5’2”. When it comes to protecting your body, the AAD recommends using sunscreen that’s: 1) SPF 30 or higher, 2) broad-spectrum (protects from UVA and UVB rays), and 3) water-resistant.
